Review - Inside Outside (2005)
“It is inside so it must come out” - Os Gemeos
For some reason, Inside Outside has managed to stay off my radar until now, but now I know the standard by which other documentaries of the same genre have to measure up to. I’ve never seen a documentary about street art that poses the question of why we need art on the streets, perhaps more so than anywhere else, yet uses the rhetoric to give answers pretty much like the one Zevs gives - or doesnt give - in that splendid opening minute you see here in the trailer. And beyond that, Inside Outside really does explore the outside art medium in all its forms, and even stops to allow those in the counter-art culture their opinion. Its a pretty democratic viewing and really gives a thorough look at the philosophies and ideologies which drive street artists to do what they do.
