Blinded By The Lights…
I absolutely love wandering the streets of Soho, especially when I come across places like this! Is it possible to spend an ‘unhealthy amount of time’ in a shop? yes, it’s getting to the point where the assistant is giving me weird looks, following my every move as I gaze wide eyed at all the amazingness that is Gods Own Junkyard at Circus of Soho…All pieces exhibited have been designed by artist, Chris Bracey aka Neon Man. Circus of Soho is located at 47 Beak Street, London, W1F 9SE.
Design: Fan The Fire
“Youth culture magazine, FAN THE FIRE, release their October 2010 issue. Amazing cover by Olivia Lorraine Tran, with art features from art by Anthony Ausgang, Henrietta Harris and Laurent Nivalle and style by Barrie Hullegie and Tamara Lichtenstein, plus music and film reviews.”
Design story…
“Sprite invited four Brazilian artists to create a new limited edition of cans, as part of its “Refresh your ideas” project.”Friends With You 4 N*E*R*D
Love this… FWY were asked to pimp our a Rolls for the new N*E*R*D* vid - here’s what [FWY] had to say, “Our good friends known as N*E*R*D needed a tripped-out masterpiece to be wrapped around a Rolls Royce for their new video Hot & Fun. When asked to create a piece in the vain of the Yellow Submarine/John Lennon’s classic 1960 Rolls, things got exciting! In turn Magical Explosions was born, a psychedelic take over of FriendsWithYou cosmic forces. The video was shot Mad Max style in the desert of California and from what we’ve seen so far the car fit the part perfectly!”(Sasha)

Design: Swami Surf Co. Boards
“Swami Surf Co. is a new breed of surf company with a very stylish and modern approach to the surfer lifestyle. Named after a point break in California and based out of London, Swami’s Surf Company combines traditional artisan surfboard craftsmanship with hi-tech imagery. Bold graphics are printed onto silk and cut into the surface of the board which is then encapsualted within layers of resin to give striking depth to the visuals. The brand upholds the traditions of classic English craftsmanship combined with a pure and exclusive aesthetic sense.”
Design by Oz Magazine (& no guns)
As the last three posts featured guns, I thought I’d better slip some love making in here quick smart because us English-types just aren’t really into that killing each other shit.Unless its for American Apparel.

Design: Huck Lee
More from the incomprehensible relam of designer vinyl - just another lil’ somethin’ I thought CLFmag partner might appreciate… personally these things are waaaaay beyond my budget, like I could eat for two months of what ones of these things costs, nearly 500 pound (I don’t have the pound sign on this here keyboard. Anyway, enough of my wombly-no -money -pishings… like seriusly, is there anything more of a downer than someone moaning about how broke they are…. but God, Im soooooo broke! Anyhoo, if you’re feeling particulary loaded and decandent, head over to Huck Lee’s blog to make a purchase… or contact sasha@clfmag.com to make a donation. Nahahaha!

Design: Caleb Halter
Unbeknownst to myself and indeed Caleb Halter, we have actually been acquainted for sometimes now. T’was the visuals at a Neon Neon gig back in 2008 where I first came across his dynamic work which kind of smacks of retro future ideals - kinda like Bauhaus - that artistic movement of the 1920s - think Metropolis and the like. Incidently that gig was one of the unexpected musical highlights of 2008, my first encounter with Florida rap duo Yo Majesty - whose final interview as a twosome will be posted here shortly - cos we have things like interviews here at CLFmag dontachaknow… speaking of which I’m wading through a shedload of them which is why Im a little light on my normal meandering chit chat. Seriously I was gonna bring HarMar Superstar, Tokyo, McDonalds, Peter Murphy and everyone into this post… & your mama too!! Speaking of mama’s, just the sexy ones, check out Raquel below by Neon Neon, the all-time absolute epitome of the retro-future glamorpuss

Friends, Lovers & Gwen Stefani

So creators of designer vinyl toys Friends With You are keeping everyone up on their doings via their site studio, including a poster sale and continuing their work for Tokyophile Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Lover’s Fragrance - images of which you can see below - which is the namesake of Stefani’s lifestyle brand. The fragrances reference Stefani’s clothing label and are named Love, Angel, Music and Baby plus a minature Gwen featuring the tag line, “A fatal attraction to cuteness”. Now, eer, I dunno why- but this ad - which you can access at the site studio - just kind of leaves me a little flat. Like since learning about Superflat I’ve become a lot more critical of parodies of Japanese culture. (like I learned about it less than a week ago and now Im a full-on critic!) But the thing which bites the most is the decision to us a European model instead of a Japanese girl. Thus for me, it just smacks of ripperely offery of the culture it tries so hard to emulate. Anyhoo, head over to the site and see for yourself…
