Rio De Janeiro
Holidays photos by Kate
See? Told you so. I think we can all learn something from this photograph. I mean this effectively redefines the holiday snap. Not Like those God-forsaken, “Me-blocking-out-the-view-with-myself” abominations. So you think you’re as spectacular as the Great Wall Of The Taj Ma-Pichu do you? No? Then why the hell are you stood in front of it on EVERY PHOTO? Anyway, this is from my babygirl Kate in Rio, hanging in Rocinha favela with her Brazilan Ragamuffins. Thank you Kate for giving me a legit reason never to tolerate another dull as fudge holiday album ever again. And for reminding me how truly amazing a word ragamuffin is.
(And this is a shout to my friends , loved ones and all the people of Rio - especially the homeless - caught up in the deadly storms. Nearly 100 dead in the cidade maravilhosa. My prayers are with you.)
Beijos & fica bom everyone (: (

Blog: Protest Against Violence In Rio…
Just another normal day in Copacobana featuring dead bodies in trolleys… or people pretending to be. This peaceful but powerful protest held yesterday by a group Cariocas is in response to the violence has kept the north part of the Rio paralysed. As the violence enters it second week, the body count stands at around 40 official deaths so far… This protest was mimicking the grisly find of a freshly tortured corpse found near the entrance of one of the favelas caught in the middle of the continuing turf war. Ten already-incarceratated drug traffickers have been moved to Southern Brazil in an attempt to prevent then plotting war from within their Rio prison cells. Officials are calling this the worst outbreak of violence in Rio so far this year. Looks like its going to be a long summer…Beijos! (Sasha)
Graffiti: Jardin Botanical, Rio (Part II)
Right, as my life is being dominated by wisedom toothache and English grammar- oh My God, that is even more depressing when in written form, Im posting a partcularly dark selection of graffiti handpicked from the CLFmag Botanical Garden Graffiti Archive (dontchaknow) to lure you all into my world of pain, discomfort and the blues…
Ofcourse this is all to do with my new job of teaching English to executive types, and having to re-teach myself riveting stuff like “The Gerund form”. Like what? Like why call it that?
the Ger-uuuund.
Like “Hi, my name’s Sasha, I live in Rio and somehow the sun has well and truly set on all the fun stuff and I’m now I’m living alone, without a laptop, sleeping on foam and learning about The Gerund.”
With toothache.
Dark days indeed…
Beijos? (Sasha)
